8,000 km per month or a flat rate for distribution. What does this model mean for your fleet?

Steady work, predictable routes, and a clear billing model —this is exactly what carriers handling domestic transport are increasingly expecting. As part of the xCargo Partner program, we are developing two collaboration models for transportation companies: domestic long-haul transport and regional distribution in Silesia.

Each of them meets different fleet needs. In long-haul transport, regular mileage of about 8,000 km per month is important, while in distribution, operational predictability and the option of flat-rate billing are key.

In this article, you'll learn:

  • What are the key differences between long-distance transport (approx. 8,000 km/month) and regional distribution in Silesia?
  • How does the pay-per-kilometer billing model work—for both loaded and empty trips?
  • In what situations does a flat-rate payment per workday protect a carrier's revenue?
  • What specific cargo and technical conditions apply to individual xCargo Partner projects?
  • How to choose a partnership model based on fleet size and driver preferences.

Long-distance domestic transport – approximately 8,000 km per month

The first model is designed for carriers who want to ensure that their truck-trailer combinations operate regularly on domestic routes.

The average mileage is about 1,900–2,500 km per week, which comes to about 8,000 km per month.

One of the most important aspects of the partnership is the payment arrangement:

We pay for every kilometer driven—whether the vehicle is fully loaded or empty.

This allows the carrier to plan the revenue and profitability of individual truck-trailer combinations much more accurately.

Key Terms of the Partnership

  • an average of about 8,000 km per month,
  • about 1,900–2,500 km per week,
  • You pay for every kilometer—whether the vehicle is fully loaded or empty,
  • recurring domestic routes,
  • The ride takes place mainly during the day,
  • About 60% of shipments consist of cargo weighing no more than 8 metric tons,
  • Items transported include, among others, cardboard boxes, toilet paper, and paper towels on pallets,
  • Most loading and unloading takes place from the rear via the ramp,
  • We avoid loading and unloading from the top,
  • We avoid delivering directly to construction sites,
  • the option to rent a semi-trailer,
  • Standard payment term: 30 days.

This model is designed for carriers who want to achieve consistent mileage without having to constantly search for new loads on freight exchanges.

Domestic distribution – shorter routes and flat-rate billing

The second xCargo Partner model involves domestic distribution transportation, primarily within the Silesia region.

The nature of the work here is completely different. Instead of long-haul trips, the driver makes shorter, repetitive regional routes.

The average mileage is about 300–400 km per day, or about 1,500 km per week. Typically, 2–3 loading operations are performed each day.

In this model, however, the mileage itself is not the most important factor.

A lump-sum payment increases predictability

If, for operational reasons, the planned route cannot be completed, the cooperation agreement may provide for a flat-rate payment per workday.

For the carrier, this means greater revenue predictability and a lower risk of a situation in which a vehicle remains available but, for reasons beyond the carrier's control, covers fewer kilometers.

Key Terms of the Partnership

  • routes operated primarily in Silesia,
  • about 300–400 km a day,
  • an average of about 1,500 km per week,
  • usually 2–3 loads per day,
  • short and repeatable routes,
  • the option of lump-sum billing in accordance with the project terms,
  • regular work on distribution projects,
  • the possibility of a long-term partnership.

This model is particularly appealing to carriers who, rather than maximizing the number of kilometers driven, want to provide their drivers with regular regional work and a predictable level of income.

Consistent operations allow for better utilization of the fleet

For a transportation company, it's not just the rate per kilometer that matters. Equally important is how many days a month the vehicle is actually in operation, how much empty mileage it generates, and how predictable future orders are.

That is why at xCargo Partner, we focus on regular projects and clearly defined collaboration models.

In long-haul transport, the carrier receives regular routes and is paid for every kilometer—whether loaded or empty. In regional distribution, the lower mileage is offset by a more predictable work model and the option of flat-rate billing.

The size of the fleet also matters

You can start the partnership with just a few vehicles, but having a larger number of vehicles at your disposal allows for more effective planning of transportation projects.

For the carrier, this means the ability to gradually expand the scope of the partnership as their own business grows, without having to secure separate contracts for each vehicle.

xCargoPartner – Two Models, One Goal

xCargo Partner was designed for carriers who want to plan their business for the long term.

You can choose a model that suits your fleet:

Long-distance domestic transport —approximately 8,000 km per month, recurring routes, and payment per kilometer.

Domestic distribution transport —approximately 300–400 km per day, regular routes in Silesia, and the option of a flat-rate payment.
